Join the Arkwright Society to lead the Development Phase of their landmark National Lottery Heritage Fund project – Cromford Mills: Celebrating Heritage, Creating a Sustainable Future.
The Arkwright Society is seeking an experienced and dynamic Client Project Manager to lead the development and potential delivery of a major heritage redevelopment at Cromford Mills, a Grade I listed site and integral to the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. This exciting project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other partners, will transform historic mill buildings currently on the Historic England National Heritage at Risk Register into vibrant spaces for visitors, events, and tenancies, securing the site’s future and enhancing public access and engagement.
The Arkwright Society are looking for a professional Project Manager with significant experience managing heritage capital projects involving Grade I or II* listed buildings with a clear understanding of World Heritage Sites. You will act as the Society’s lead representative, coordinating a multidisciplinary consultant team (including lead design consultant, quantity surveyor, and interpretation and activity planners) through the Development Phase – and potentially into the Delivery Phase, subject to funding.
The role includes leading and coordinating a team of specialist consultants, chairing project meetings, maintaining risk and budget controls, supporting funding applications, liaising with statutory bodies and stakeholders, and ensuring all outputs meet funder requirements.
This is a part-time consultancy position, averaging up to six days per month during the development phase, which runs until June 2027.
