World Heritage Cathedrals and Abbeys webinar # 4

Number 4 in a series of 4 webinar talks, on the UK’s World Heritage Cathedrals and Abbeys – Tuesday 17th December 2024.

World Heritage Site: Bath Abbey, as part of City of Bath WHS.

Speakers: Adrian Neilson, Principal Officer – World Heritage, Planning & Conservation, Bath & North East Somerset Council, and Alex Morris, project architect for the Bath Abbey Footprint Project.

Adrian is World Heritage Site Manager for the City of Bath. He has worked in the heritage sector for over 2 decades, and previous to his current World Heritage role was a Senior Conservation Officer for Bath and North East Somerset Council. He studied history at the University of Exeter, archaeology at the University of Bristol, and the conservation of historic buildings at the University of Bath, where he now works as a visiting lecturer and tutor.

Alex is an Associate at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios. Since joining FCB Studios in 2001 Alex now has over 25 years of professional experience on a wide range of projects. He is a specialist in creative reuse and heritage projects, and has been Project Architect, contract administrator and Principle Designer for the RIBA National Award Winning, Bath Abbey Footprint project, from 2015 to completion in 2021. His other project experience has included repair and re-ordering of the Bristol University Law and Earth Sciences libraries, in the Grade II* listed Wills Memorial Library, a pilot project for sustainable retrofit of a listed headquarters building in central Manchester. He also led the design team on the redevelopment of a Grade 2 listed warehouse and showroom building in Farringdon and helped to provide early stage conservation advice for the recently completed Burrel Collection in Glasgow.
