World Heritage Site: Canterbury Cathedral

Speakers: Dr Jane Lovell from Canterbury Christ Church University and Neil McCollum, Head of Historic Properties Kent for English Heritage

Jane is a Reader teaching tourism and events, specialising in creative destinations and heritage tourism at Canterbury Christ Church University, having previously worked at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Canterbury City Council. Her research takes places at heritage sites and includes: myth, legends and storytelling; fantasy, magical and literary tourism and film locations. She has also published widely on topics such as heritage and authenticity. Jane also continues to stage the light installations that she studies. She is co-chair of Canterbury World Heritage Site Committee and an Executive Member of the British Association of Canadian Studies.

Neil Head of Historic Properties Kent for English Heritage, responsible for the operation and commercial performance of a portfolio of visitor attractions and historic sites across the county of Kent. He has previously worked for the London Borough of Greenwich and Canterbury City Council. He is past Chair of the Canterbury World Heritage Site Committee, a Fellow and past President of the Tourism Management Institute and current Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Kent Mining Museum.
