Conservation and Maintenance Manager
Permanent contract
Salary: £27k – £30k depending on experience
World Heritage UK member Port Sunlight Village Trust is seeking an experienced and dynamic conservation professional to lead the delivery of Port Sunlight’s day-today conservation and maintenance responsibilities.
You will be a strong manager adept at working effectively with contractors, colleagues, consultants, local authorities and running complex projects, with experience of line management. Knowledge of building conservation and planning policy is essential.
The Conservation and Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the maintenance and sensitive repair of the residential properties, garages, roads, footpaths, and principal buildings owned by Port Sunlight Village Trust (PSVT). This includes both the day-to-day repairs and annual maintenance checks ensuring PSVT is Health & Safety compliant.
This post comes at an exciting moment in PSVT’s evolution. In 2022 we will review the Port Sunlight Local Listed Building Consent Order (LLBCO), one of only two currently operational LLBCOs in the country, review our 10-year Conservation Management and Estate Management Plans; engage and collaborate with key village stakeholders to action the Environmental Sustainability Strategy; prioritise repairs highlighted in the condition assessment of our monuments and landscape features; and develop an enforcement strategy.
Described as an industrial workers village, Port Sunlight is one of the finest surviving examples of its kind in the UK. A Conservation Area, nearly every building and monument is Grade II listed and some of our landscapes are registered. Pre-pandemic we welcomed approximately 300,000 visitors each year. We are a living village too, with approximately 2,000 residents living in the original workers cottages and playing an important role in making the village such a special place.
PSVT is a charity and custodian of Port Sunlight. Our responsibilities are broad and our business diverse, but our team is comparatively small. What we lack in size we make up for in our approach and ambition. Our vision is to make “Port Sunlight, an inspiring place to live, work and visit.” You can find out more about us on our websites and by reading our 5-year Strategic Plan and 10-year Conservation Management Plan.
PSVT is committed to ensuring that applicants for all paid or voluntary positions are provided with equality of opportunity, and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, offending background, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, and marriage and civil partnerships. We are also committed to ensuring our recruitment processes are accessible and that all reasonable adjustments are made to enable individuals to carry out their roles effectively.
