Monday 01st September is World Heritage UK’s 10th birthday.
Ten years ago WHUK was formed as the next step after the Local Authority World Heritage Forum or LAWHF. As the management responsibility of the UK’s World Heritage Sites began to fall to those beyond Local Authorities, the members of LAWHF agreed that a new independent charity would best serve the growing UK’s World Heritage sector and World Heritage Sites. And so WHUK came into being.
To celebrate not just 10 years of WHUK, but also celebrate the UK’s amazing wealth and depth of World Heritage, WHUK teamed up with Big Picture Charity Films to produce a short film that we hope will build awareness and appreciation of this country’s World Heritage.

If you would like to include the video within your own communications, please just get in touch with WHUK and we will arrange for you to receive the video.
Our thanks go to all those Sites who kindly allowed us to use their footage, to Stonehenge & Avebury WHS for allowing us to film there, and to Big Picture Charity Films for pulling it all together. We appreciate not all 35 of the UK’s WHSs feature, but perhaps including all Sites is something to aim for with the next iteration?
