The World Heritage Residence/Scholarship

January 15, 2026 Published by Alex McCoskrie

The World Heritage Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland International Scholarship and Residency is now open for 2026. It is a great opportunity for artists and researchers to build bridges and connect World Heritage Sites.

The scholarship is aimed at professional artists, cultural practitioners and researchers who want to develop an artistic or research idea that connects the World Heritage Site Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland to one or more other World Heritage Sites on the UNESCO list. The scholarship is international and awards the applicant who shows in the clearest, most relevant and feasible way how the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland relates to other World Heritage Sites in the spirit of UNESCO, for example through cultural heritage, conservation, universal value, cultural meetings or knowledge exchange.

Last year nearly 1000 people from 100 different countries applied.

The World Heritage Scholarship includes

  • Staying and living in one or two World Heritage farms for a period of one month
  • A grant of equivalent 50.000 SEK to carry out the idea/project in question
  • Travel to and from Sweden

Applications will be accepted from 15 January – 28 February 2026.
