Great Spa Towns of Europe WHS 2025 General Assembly

September 22, 2025 Published by Alex McCoskrie

For the first time, members of The Great Spa Towns of Europe Association will meet in Bad Ems, Germany, for a series of meetings and site visits, including their General Assembly on 9th October 2025. This will not just be the first time the General Assembly is held in the historic spa town of Bad Ems, but the first one that runs under the Association’s new Chair, Oliver Krügel, the Mayor of Bad Ems.

With a new Chair, this is a chance to cultivate a new direction for the GSTE Association and all eleven spa towns that make up this World Heritage Site. The members will complete special exercises to help shape the long-term future of the GSTE and spa towns. The decisions made here will have impacts across Europe, as well as the health and wellness industry.

The new Youth Forum will also be involved with the General Assembly, meaning young people living across the GSTE can speak to Mayors, leaders and other decision-makers, bringing the voice of the next generation directly into heritage management. The Youth Forum was a project shaped from 2024-2025 and created with co-design methods, meaning the young citizens decided themselves how the Youth Forum would work.
