Consultation on City of Bath and Great Spa Towns of Europe World Heritage Site Management Plan

November 27, 2024 Published by Alex McCoskrie

It is an important part of requirements for World Heritage status that the City of Bath develops and follows a Management Plan. This aims to balance necessary development and growth of the city with protecting and preserving what UNESCO recognises as its Outstanding Universal Value. Effective management depends on the awareness and cooperation of as many organisations and citizens within and beyond the Site as possible.

Every six years, the City of Bath reviews and updates their Management Plan, revisiting their vision and priorities. This review process incorporates changing local needs, expert guidance, learning from the management of other World Heritage Sites, and public feedback from people who live, work in, and visit the city.

This consultation offers stakeholders an opportunity to have their say on the vision and priorities of the Draft Management Plan for 2024 to 2030. Bath & NE Somerset Council are interested to hear the views of residents, businesses, visitors and anyone with an interest in the heritage and the future of Bath. They will not ask for personal details, but they would love to know if you’re responding to the consultation on behalf of a club, group or organisation.

This consultation runs from now to 17 January 2025.
