World Heritage Site: The Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site

The Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site (‘Cornish Mining’) is a series of ten areas comprising the distinctive patterns of buildings, monuments and sites which together form the coherent series of distinctive cultural landscapes created by the industrialisation of hard-rock mining in the period 1700 to 1914.

Speaker: Ainsley Cocks from Cornwall County Council

Ainsley is the Research and Information Officer with the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site team, hosted by Cornwall Council. Born and raised in Cornwall, Ainsley has a background in industrial archaeology and mining heritage and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Heritage Management (University of Exeter/Camborne School of Mines).

He commenced work on the Nomination for World Heritage status in 2001 and since inscription in 2006, has managed research and information gathering to inform UNESCO Periodic Reporting requirements, education and conservation projects, and the various enquiries made by partner local authorities, heritage and other agencies, and the public.

Individual webinars cost £5 or buy all seven for £25.
