May 9, 2023 Published by Alex McCoskrie

Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th July, University of Cumbria, Ambleside

This year’s WHUK Summer Workshop will explore how World Heritage Sites can do more for nature. The Workshop will comprise two days, with the mornings hearing from speakers including Natural England, Geoparks, Biospheres, the UK National Commission for UNESCO, the National Trust, the University of Cumbria and heritage sites that have had successes in boosting nature. The afternoons will be spent exploring the English Lake District WHS and seeing firsthand how they are working on balancing managing OUV and helping nature to recover. We’ll be visiting Ullswater and Aira Force on the Wednesday; Langdale and Grasmere on the Thursday.

There will also be a cruise on Windermere on Wednesday evening, followed by a social event in Ambleside.

Tickets include 2 nights B&B accommodation at the University of Cumbria’s student accommodation in the heart of Ambleside, packed lunches both days, and all excursions.

Tickets are available without accommodation and for digital access to the presentations.

The Wednesday evening social needs to be pre-booked too. You will need to pre-order your food and then pay at the venue on the night.
