Sir Chris Bryant has been appointed Minster for Creative Industries, Arts and Tourism, and his role will cover World Heritage. Heritage policy will be considered alongside the full culture, creative industries, and visitor economy brief, which has been separate in previous years. Sir Chris also has a dual ministerial role with the Department of Digital, Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), so he will additionally hold responsibility for digital infrastructure, data protection and the space sector.
Sir Chris represents Rhondda and Ogmore in South Wales, a seat he has held since 2001. Prior to this election he served as Shadow Minister for the Creative Industries and Digital, alongside previous shadow roles in the Home Office, Justice Department and Foreign Office, and as Deputy Leader of the Commons. He has written a number of books on social and political history. In June he took part in ‘The Arts Hustings’, a debate on arts, culture and heritage issues between party representatives.
WHUK looks forward to working with Sir Chris and his team.
