Implementation of the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage
April 22, 2025
DCMS would like to share a couple of key updates with the implementation of the Living Heritage / Intangible Cultural Heritage Convention.
They are pleased to announce that the consultation response has been published. It has been published on the consultation page here. This consultation response provides a comprehensive overview of their plans for the inventories.
DCMS are then planning to open the call for submissions to the inventories later this year.
Ahead of that, DCMS are going to host an information session aimed at public bodies, NGOs, networks and similar to discuss their plans for the inventory process and outline opportunities for engagement plus answer questions.
They will run two identical sessions on Wednesday 30th April 10-11:30am, and Friday 2nd May 1:30-3pm. No individual invites will be sent, so to attend one, just add it to your calendar. You can join by going to https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-teams/join-a-meeting and using the following ID (335266366366) and passcode (9ND7UJ9D) for Wednesday 30th, or use ID (373981771374) and passcode (q9T4Wj9) for Friday 2nd.
These sessions will consist of a presentation on the plans for community engagement during the inventory process and what public bodies, NGOs, networks and similar need to know about how they can get involved if interested. Whilst these sessions will be public, they are specifically aimed at organisations and not the actual communities / practitioners who are interested in submitting to the inventories. As DCMS will talk through in the session, there will be a range of ways for the public to find information and support when the submissions open, but these information sessions will be targeted at organisations only.
